Myrtle was my kindergarten and first grade teacher at Salem from 1959-1961. After all these years memories are still fresh of her teaching methods and her encouragement to me throughout the years to become a teacher (retired in 2020 after 45 years of teaching and administration in the WELS.) Robert Fulgrum write the book that states everything we needed in life we learned in kdg. He was right!
Pastor em. Roy H. Rose left a message on July 31, 2025:
She was my 6-week Kindergarten and 1 & 2 grade teacher; also gave us rides to school before there was any bus. I last saw her at something at WISCO back in the 80's or 90's. I had just been thinking about her a few weeks ago, wondering if she was here or in heaven, her real home. - Pastor em. Roy H. Rose, Salem student 1950's

Our deepest condolences to my three cousins and their families. Aunt Myrtle meant a lot to us. She and Uncle Frank would always be there for baptisms, confirmations, and family events. Had she not introduced my mom, Lois, to her brother Byron, our legacy as a Schaetzel would never have happened. God‘s peace be with you all during this difficult time.

My sincerest condolences to the Gauger family. I was lucky enough to live next door to the Gaugers in Germantown as a child. I remember Myrt generously giving us strawberries from her garden. She was always such a kind and wonderful woman.
