Minnie L. Adams was born on July 2, 1951, in Itta Bena county in Morgan City, Mississippi, to Annie Mae Lucky and Walter Bufkin. She received her formal education in Morgan City, Mississippi. She bore her first two children in St. Louis, and later moved to Arkansas where she was fostered by Willie and Celia Anderson, then bore two more children. The family then moved to Chicago, Illinois where she had an additional three children and another after she moved to Milwaukee, WI.
After her union with her Husband Vernon L. Adams on May 10, 1985 she bore three more children. Altogether she was blessed with 11 children whom were her pride and joy. Minnie was a loving mother, devoted wife, and, above all, a “Child of God,” she will always be remembered for her strength, courage, resilience, and the compassion she showed toward others. She gave her life to Christ at a young age and was an active member of Redeem Faith Fellowship Church, where she served as an usher an received numerous awards for her unwavering commitment to the church’s mission.
Minnie was a firm believer in God and found joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren. She had a passion for fashion, caregiving, and was known for her culinary skills as an “amazing cook.” Its been said every holiday she made the best cakes specifically her Pineapple upside cakes and her Black eyed peas with okra and stove top cornbread. Her wisdom, strength, and nurturing spirit earned her the reputation of being a “Wise and Strong Woman.” While she was the mother of 11 children, she opened her heart and home to two additional children fully adopting one and fostering the other. Later in life, she owned and operated “Grandma Minnie’s Family Daycare Center” for ten years, providing a loving and supportive environment for children. Throughout her life, she was a dedicated partner to her husband’s entrepreneurial pursuits and played an integral role in his success. Her grandchildren can remember in detail her having them preform as if they were the members of the “Temptations,” since that was one of her favorite movies most of them can remember each scene as if they were apart of production. In her leisure she enjoyed watching movies like; What’s Love Got to Do with It, How Stella Got her Grove back, Norbit, Bodyguard and Something New. She also had an ear for music and you would often see her dancing to the rhythm of the beat of “Cooling Water” by Lee Williams.
