Mildred “Mickey” Fimiano was born to eternal life and reunited with her devoted husband, Joseph on May 28, 2024, at the age of 100. She was born in Milwaukee to parents Mervyn and Sadie LeRoy. Mickey and Joe raised their family in Wauwatosa. She was a wonderful wife, homemaker and proud mother of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Mickey and Joe had a beautiful marriage for 57 years.
Mickey was a loving and kind Mother to Darlene Grooms, Sandra Prinslow, Lyn Malen-Riebel (Frank Ericson), Joseph S. Fimiano (Jill) and Barbara Schmidt (Jerry). Adoring and warmhearted Granny to Pam (the late Randy), Chris, JP (Petra), Jeff, Joel, Kelly (Darren), Chad (Mega), Mike (Shannon), Tony (Katie), Joe, Jessica, Alison (Omeed), Kelsey (Alex) and Kevin. Proud Great-Granny to Nikki (Danny), Brandon (Mackenzie), Alex, Taylor, Andreas, Danny, Jenna, Jessica, Liam, Heath, Brighton, Alyssa, Avery, Sloane, Winter, Adrian, Sierra, Andrew, Mia, Sawyer, Avah, Joseph, Preston and Stella; as well as Great-Great-Granny to Kenzi, James, Kaylee, Jayden and Halle. Further survived by her sister, Joan Stanger; her nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her wonderful husband, Joe; her parents; her sisters; Violet, Sally and Dolly; her brothers Harvey and Wayne; and her forever loved grandson, Joel.
Mickey was a devout Catholic. When young she began singing with the Catholic Schools she attended. Her singing voice was a true gift. She was blessed with beauty. Her teen years were filled with dancing and singing with the Big Bands. She and her husband Joe loved dancing together. Her beautiful singing voice lasted her lifetime. She took pride in her work at the Grand clothing store in Wauwatosa, and then managed Valley Microforms. When she retired, she volunteered and ran gift shops at Elmbrook Hospital and Willowbrook Court. Family life was most important to Mickey. She loved all of the children that came into her life. She was a super mom and managed a warm and loving home. She enjoyed making delicious meals, especially spaghetti, apple pie and chocolate chip cookies.
She was an avid reader, loved life and was always game to join in or entertain.
She was a very strong brave woman whose one month shy of 101 years is a testament to how strong and brave she was. She was blessed to have 100 years!
A special thank you to all the Milwaukee Catholic Home staff that cared for our mom in so very many ways. Their kindness and love was felt every day. Also thanks and appreciation to St. Camillus Hospice whose understanding and support were invaluable.
You will be remembered and missed, and always be a part of our lives.
Until we meet again.
