Michael P. “Mike” Stampfer
Michael entered eternal life when he passed away peacefully on June 13, 2023, at the age of 86.
Michael was born in Milwaukee to Michael J. and Katherine (née Faust) on September 2, 1936. Mike attended Messmer High School, after which he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Following his service, he moved back to Milwaukee and married Roberta “Bobbie” (née Loomis), where they raised their son, Michael J. (Mickey). Mike worked for many years in management at Master Lock Corporation before taking an early retirement in the mid-1990s.
While Michael was an only child, he gained eight brothers, a sister, and their spouses, as well as many nieces and nephews when he married. He remained close with his parents, as well as his aunt and uncle, the late Henry and Sue Sill, and his late cousin Leonard (Phyllis) Sill. Mike was easygoing and social, forming many lifelong friendships.
Mike and Bobbie enjoyed traveling with friends and family members, especially to Florida and Arizona. They were avid golfers, loved to play cards, and bowled in a league for many years. After retirement, Mike and Bobbie spent much time in the Wisconsin Dells area during the summers. In more recent years Mike could often be found watching his favorite black and white Westerns and Packers games on TV. He was also known for his sweet tooth; he never met a sweet treat that he disliked.
Mike is survived by his granddaughters Jessica (Josh) Van Den Berg and Julie (Dan) Simniok, as well as three great-grandchildren: Nicholas Van Den Berg and Olivia and Vivienne Simniok. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 48 years, his son, and his granddaughter, Jenna Stampfer. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and friends.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Harbor Club in Port Washington, Lasata Senior Living Campus in Cedarburg, and Horizon Hospice for their assistance in caring for Mike.
Visitation Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Krause Funeral Home, 12401 West National Avenue, New Berlin, Wisconsin from 4:00 PM until the time of Memorial Service at 6:00 PM.
