Michael Joseph Brooks came into the world on September 27, 1950, welcomed by his parents Ronald and Betty in Milwaukee, WI. As the eldest of eight children, Mike grew up at the heart of a bustling, vibrant household. His siblings-brothers, Joe, Pat, Dave, and Pete, and siters Mary, Anne and Bonnie-looked up to him as he navigated the joys and challenges of being the eldest, shaping what would become a close-knit family bond.
Mike was fortunate to find Anita and together they built a life of lasting love – 48 years, with 35 of those spent as husband and wife. As their family grew, they became the proud parents of four children-Christine, Heather, Brian, and Eric. The joy continued as Mike welcomed his granddaughter, Maya, into the family. Through it all, Mike devoted himself to his family with a generous heart, endless love, dedication, and unwavering support into every moment, every milestone, and every memory created together.
Mike was a man who understood the value of hard work. Whether serving with the Sea Bee’s, where he developed a deep respect for operating and maintaining heavy equipment, learning the intricacies of color coding at the phone company, maintaining the yard at Central Ready Mix, or working on cranes at the power plant – Mike brought genuine dedication to everything he did. But perhaps his greatest strength wasn’t just his work ethic; it was his ability to connect with people. Wherever life took him, Mike had a gift for forming real friendships. Many of those meaningful connections endured throughout his lifetime, a testament to the kind of person he was.
We will deeply miss Mike’s warmth and guidance. Whether it was those cherished camping trips with great lifelong friends where bedtime was merely a suggestion and the laughs echoed under the stars. All the beers and laughs in the garage with good buddies, or a never-ending cup of coffee shared over stories and smiles at breakfast, no matter what time of day. But perhaps what will be missed most are the phone calls Mike made to loved ones, simply checking in to see how they were doing. Or the calls you couldn’t wait to make to Mike – just to hear that laugh that made everything better, to get his honest take on life, let him explain how to fix something broken, and to feel his steady presence in your corner.
On September 14, 2026 Mike stepped into eternal life, embraced by the love that transcends all earthly boundaries. He rests now in perfect peace, reunited with his cherished wife, his parents, and all the beloved souls who await him. His legacy of love continues in all our hearts.
