Matt made many wonderful friends in his neighborhood, at schools, in cub scouts and the sports he played, later at UWM and on the job; everywhere he was and in everything he did.
After Matt met Kristen, they quickly became inseparable. They loved and laughed. They were each other’s best friend. They were planning a life-long future together.
Matt loved his pets and sharing videos and photos of the crazy things they did. His first pet was a cat that he named Thomas T(rouble) because he was. His last cat was Nemo. Matt would tell you that Nemo was a Main Coon. It is large. Maybe he was right.
When a young boy, Matt learned to play piano and later guitar which he enjoyed playing the rest of his life. He continued taking guitar lessons long after he could have stopped because he enjoyed jamming with his instructor. His thumb was severed in a work accident and reattached. He didn’t let that stop him though, getting back into playing as soon as he recovered.
Matt went to Waukesha West High School where he played football for four years. He was proud of playing on the Wisconsin Division 1 State Championship team in 2010. Some of his closest buddies played on those teams with him.
Matt was an avid Brewers fan. He especially loved Opening Day. The tailgating, traditional toast photo with dad and brother, and the traditional cigar were his highlights. Another Brewers tradition was doing the Arctic Tailgate to get tickets for the choice games. Matt loved going to bobblehead games; collecting over 100 bobbles. His favorite bobbles were CC Sabathia and Josh Hader. CC because he was Matt’s first Brewer hero. Josh because Matt waited on him when working at Texas Roadhouse. Josh was very friendly to Matt and left him a big tip.
Matt was a cheesehead and all-around Wisconsin sports fan, closely following the Packers, Bucks, Marquette, and Badgers. Much of his wardrobe was apparel from his teams and favorite players. He was also big on tie-dye T-shirts. He had an eye for picking them so that no two were alike. His eclectic style was obvious in boyhood with the collection of crazy hats that he donned for photos.
Getting together for family gatherings was very important to Matt. It was rare for him to miss a holiday get together or event. He especially enjoyed going to the family lake cabin reunions every summer. He loved pairing it with a day hike in a nature area with high elevations and amazing photo ops. He was always on the lookout for bald eagles.
Matt was a joy to be with. He will be missed sadly by his family and many good friends.
We love you Matt!
