Entered into Eternal Life on Thursday, September 12, 2024, age 95. Survived by her son David, best friend Frank (Rosemary) Matusinec, and cousin Dawn Spencer of Washington State. Preceded in death by her parents Charles P. and Marion C. Schweitzer of Brown Deer.
Mary was heavily involved in musicals, being a member of the Milwaukee Players, Shorewood Opera Company, and Gilbert and Sullivan musicals. Mary was very theater-centric.
Mary played Magnolia in the musical “Showboat,” which was the lead of the show. Mary even got to wear a habit in The Sound of Music. On a tour of the Holy Land, Mary sang at the Church of Nativity in Bethlehem.
Known as the “Singer of Psalms,” Mary oversaw the cantors of St. Margaret Mary Parish. Mary was the requested singer for Byron Kilbourn’s ceremony at City Hall in Milwaukee, prior to his re-interment at Forest Home Cemetery.
The family would like to thank St. Croix Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
Visitation to be held on Friday, October 4, 2024, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at St. Margaret Mary Parish, 3970 North 92 Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Memorial Mass to follow. Interment St. Catherine of Alexandria Cemetery, 8661 North 76 Place, Brown Deer, Wisconsin.
