(Nee Obry) Passed away peacefully on February 21, 2021, one day shy of her 71st birthday.

Delightful wife of Don Evenson for 54 years. Inspiring and generous mom of Shelly (John Mutka) Evenson-Mutka and Ginger (Lucas Cummings) Evenson K Cummings. Generous and caring grandma of Marques Mutka, Aaron Mutka, Garrett Kluth, and Vaughn Kluth. She will also be missed by sister Karen (Gary) Pofahl, and many other family and friends.

Preceded in death by brothers Bill and Tom Obry.

Mary adored her family especially her grandsons. Attending concerts and plays, teaching them to cook, sew, and doodle on the edges of paper.

As an avid quilter, she delighted in making quilts as baby gifts to welcome a newborn to the world. Her many quilts are keeping friends warm while watching TV and decorating the walls of their homes.

Mary loved music of every kind and sang with the Sweet Adeline organization for 45+ years. With her choruses and quartets, she won many medals including a Sweet Adeline International 1st place chorus. She inspired her daughter, Shelly, in her love of music and allowed her to become
such a talented violinist.

She looked at the world and thought “I can do that”. And then she would. Going back to college two different times to have successful careers as a hairdresser and Accountant. Mastering every craft from caning chairs, corn husk dolls, painting, cake decorating and quilling. The list is endless.

Above all, Mary was caring, fun, tenacious, strong and extremely loving. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 Capitol Drive, Brookfield, WI 53072 on Sunday, February 28, 2021 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Additional visitation will be held at St. John Neumann Parish, 2400 West State Road 59, Waukesha WI 53189 on Monday, March 1, 2021 from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM.

I met Ginger first when her sons were at Heyer ES with two of my kids. What a small world that I then became friends with Mary, her mom and their grandmother. We shared many happy times together talking about our families while she was cutting my hair as a kindness. She was always sweet, always happy and always willing to help. A lovely light in the world has gone out but I'm sure she's shining in Heaven and singing along with the angels!

We will miss Mary’s smiles and sweetness at the Y! We’re sorry to hear of her passing and will keep your family in our prayers...

Don, and family, I am so very sorry for your loss. Mary was such a vital and caring person. Her beautiful smile, gone too soon; and will be forever missed.

Sorry to hear of Mary's passing. She was a great woman (and cousin)! Always greeted you with a smile and although she could be serious (and often was), she knew how to laugh too. I have many good memories of times with Mary - we shared some good long conversations about where our lives took us. She will be missed...

I will miss hearing Mary's laugh when she had guests on her deck and I was working in my yard two doors away. It was raucous and you knew she was having fun. I will also miss greatly " my "White Russian" drinking buddy. Gone far too soon. She will be missed and remembered. Diane James

Don, Shelly and Ginger and all the in-laws and grandchildren. We are so terribly sorry for yours and our loss. We were in Sweet Adelines together for years and singing with her was such a pleasure. She always knew her part and helped so many of us with our false eyelashes. She was good hearted and fun and she will be so missed. She loved all of you and was so proud of her family. Our deepest sympathy to everyone who knew her.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I remember Mary when we sang together in the Riverport Chorus.....we carpooled together and always had such fun. Mary always had a big smile and was very kind. I know she will be missed by all those who knew her.

I have so many fond memories of Mary in Riverport Chorus 20+ years ago, she was truly wonderful and always quite fun to be with, no matter where we were.

I new Mary for many years when my wife sang with Sweet Adelines, I remember her as a caring person who was fun to be around, God Bless her and the family

I grew up with Shelly and Ginger. My Mom Susan Obry was Mary's cousin but I knew her as "Aunt Mary". Our families spent many nights and week ends together. She treated my brother Don and I like her own and she was a second mother to us. I loved her like a Mom and will miss her. Uncle Don...... Shelly...... Ginger....... nothing can make it better........ but you will be in my prayers and in my heart always........

I sure will miss this wonderful women. Her infectious smile and her love for life was what I will remember. As a younger member of Sweet Adelines, Mary was always there to help and guide me. We had so many laughs and I couldn't believe all that she had done in her life. She definitely lived life to the fullest. Many hugs and prayers to the family.

I've sung with Mary for decades! I will greatly miss her feisty attitude and ready smile. She was a delight and will be sorely missed.

I am so sorry to hear about Mary's passing. I loved singing with her in the Spirit of the Lakes Chorus in Lake Geneva. She was a great bass and was always an enthusiastic chorus member. I have one of her wonderful quilts and it is my TV-watching companion. My sympathies to Don and the rest of her family. Gail Dugh

I am heartbroken for your loss. She was a beautiful and talented person. I will always remember Mary's great smile, sense of humor, her laugh, and her sassiness. Mary will be truly missed.

I was not only best friends with Mary's brother Bill but from Jr. High School I almost lived at the Obry home, so I got to know the whole family even going as far a calling her mother and dad mom and dad myself. My wife and I are very saddened by the loss of Mary, I want to offer my condolences to both Don and Karen.
