(nee Otto) passed away peacefully at her home in Pewaukee, WI on May 4, 2025.
Mary Anne was born in Bessimer, MI on October 20, 1931, to parents Louis “Dutch” Otto and Mary K. Otto (nee Kuchevar). Following her father’s death when she was a young girl, she along with her mother and her older brother to Ironwood, MI where she lived until graduating from Luther L. Wright High School in 1949. Mary Anne’s Senior Yearbook described her as “A daughter of the gods, divinely tall, and most divinely fair.”
Following high school Mary Anne attended Holy Family School of Nursing in Manitowoc, WI where she received her Registered Nursing degree in 1952. Her nursing career eventually took her to Green Bay, WI where she worked for a local physician. It was there that she met the love of her life, Julian “Jay” Czerwnski. They were married on November 29, 1958. Their first child, David, was born in September the following year. Jay and Mary Anne moved to Milwaukee and their second son Paul was born in June of 1961. They raised their family in Brookfield, WI. Mary Anne eventually resumed her nursing career on a part-time basis at Elmbrook Memorial Hospital. Jay and Mary Anne moved to Pewaukee prior to Jay’s passing on their 40th anniversary in 1998.
Mary Anne loved singing, dancing, travel, and entertaining. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, and proud grandmother who cherished spending time with her family and friends (of which there were many). Mary Anne was devout Catholic and long-time member of the Christ Child Society where she volunteered for many years.
She is survived by son David Czerwinski, his wife Shari Czerwinski, Granddaughters Sarah Czerwinski Smith and Jenna Czerwinski Flannery, Daughter-in-law Jaclyn Czerwinski, Grandsons Robert Czerwinski, David Czerwinski & wife Tiffany Czerwinski, and John Paul Czerwinski, three great grandsons, Nephews Tom & Peter Ripp, and her Neice Ellen Angelo Ripp. Mary Anne was preceded in death by her husband Julian, brother Raymond, and son Paul.
A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at Queen of Apostles Church, N35W23360 Capitol Drive, Pewaukee, WI 53072, on Saturday July 26, 2025, at 12:00 PM. Visitation is at the church from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
