Marian Q. Thielke

Passed away December 2, 2022 in the presence of family at Luther Manor Independent Living, Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.

She was born in Milwaukee on May 14, 1918 to parents William Quast and Marian Graber Quast. Marian graduated from Washington High School and then attended a Stenographer School. After completion, she worked for the city of Wauwatosa.

Marian married Robert “Bud” Thielke on February 22, 1941. After their first son Tom was born, Marian then became a full time at home mom. Later sons Jeff and John joined the family. Marian worked for the city of Wauwatosa as an administrative assistant. Later she worked for Flanner Hafsoos well into her 70’s.

Marian’s husband Bud died May 27, 1983. Survived by her sons, Thomas (Ruth), Jeffrey (Mary) and John (the late Barbara) Thielke. Also survived by six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. For the next 35 years she became the self appointed matriarch of the Thielke family. Marian moved to Independent Living at Luther Manor where she lived for 24 years.

Marian loved life especially her family, her friends, bridge groups, travel, all Wisconsin sports, volunteering within Luther Manor and reading her morning paper and never missed doing the crossword puzzle.

Marian’s faith was strong as she was a long time member at Redemption Lutheran Church. Marian enjoyed an occasional cocktail or glass of wine with friends, and always made the family toast during the holidays.

Visitation at Lutheran Manor Faith and Education Building 4535 North 92nd St., Wauwatosa, Wisconsin on Friday, December 9th from 12:00 PM until time of Service at 1:00 PM.
