Marian was an amazing woman, tenacious in nature, always moving forward. She had a beautiful independent spirit. Traveled to New York after graduating high school worked at Camp McCoy, Chicago Mercantile Exchange and at the telephone company in Milwaukee.
Growing up during the great depression and WWII, although extremely difficult, it certainly left a huge impression on her life. She always said, as hard as they were, they were good times that brought everyone together.
She met her husband Walter in Milwaukee while working there. They were married in 1947 and after living with his parents for a short period of time they soon bought a house in Milwaukee and started a family. In 1957 they moved out to the suburbs, built a house in Menomonee Falls and raised their 3 children there. After Walter’s passing in 1989 she continued to live in the house alone until the children finally convinced her to move into an apartment in the “Fall’s”. In 2014 she agreed to leave her beloved Wisconsin and moved in with her son Bruce in New York and later relocated with him to Madison, GA where she spent her final years.
Marian loved children and animals. She became a much loved step-grandmother to Bruce’s stepson Michael and Mom to his mother Jamie. She is missed but will always be with them
Her strong will always kept her going. She had back surgeries in her 80’s and 90’s for spinal stenosis. Broke her hip, ribs, collarbone and vertebrae in her 90’s on multiple occasions. Even breaking her hip in June of 2024, had surgery, and went to physical therapy and walked again. When others counted her out she said no – I’m not giving up.
Marian got up every morning, got dressed and attacked the day. Always moving forward.
She has returned to Wisconsin and is buried with her husband at Holy Cross Cemetery. May she rest in peace until we all unite again.
