Marcia K. Edge passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at the age of 61.
She was born in West Allis, Wisconsin in May 1963 to Barbara & Claude R. Edge. Shortly after, she moved with her parents to Melbourne, Florida, the town where her paternal great-great grandparents settled and named in the 1870’s. As a child she had fun after school helping her paternal grandmother and step grandfather with small chores around their restaurant, as her mom waited tables. While in Florida, she gained a sister, Karen, before moving back to Wisconsin in 1970.
Marcia grew up in Greendale, Wisconsin, where she was active in sports such as swimming, softball, basketball, and bowling. She traveled each summer with her family around the United States, but her most memorable trip was three weeks in Europe in 1977. Memories from this trip were shared through writing assignments at Greendale High School, which we would laugh about again much later in life. During her time at Greendale High School, she also met her soulmate and special friend, Steve, who would remain by her side until her last breath.
Marcia shared a birthday and developed a special bond with her aunt, Sandy. Her middle name was given in honor of her favorite aunt, as well. Sandy cherished Marcia, and they had many wonderful memories of spending time together during the summers at her aunt and uncle’s house in Nashotah, Wisconsin.
Marcia relished in traveling and explored parts of the country with her loving friend, Steve. She took him on his first trip out of state to visit her grandparents in Florida, and that ignited his interest in seeing more of the world. Their mutual interest in travel also sent them on a number of adventures to states out west and on frequent visits to the Wisconsin Dells. They also enjoyed a common passion for photography, and movies. Marcia made several fun-filled trips to Florida with her sister, Karen, brother-in-law, Tom, and nephews, Ben and Robbie. Her face would light up when talking about her time with her nephews and each of their accomplishments. With her love of travel, her favorite job was working as a flight attendant at Midwest Express and as a travel agent.
Marcia is survived by her loving friend, Steve Bak; sister, Karen (Thomas) Jones; half-sister, Julia (Shiva Benimadhu) Edge; stepmother, Yunming Edge; nephews, Benjamin & Robert Jones; aunt and uncle, Sandra (Robert) Barkow; cousins, Kathleen (John) Ford and Matthew (Stephanie) Barkow, and additional family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara (nee Visintainer) Edge; father, Claude R. Edge; maternal grandparents, Joseph & Marian Visintainer; paternal grandparents, Claude G (Miriam) Edge and Viola (H. Robert) Lamb; and her beloved cat, Sammie.
Private family services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, Marcia would ask for donations to the Humane Society of Wisconsin.
