Peacefully went home to the Lord on May 17, 2015 at age 89. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years Betty, devoted daughter Kathy, grandson Shawn (Ashley), great grandsons Patrick and Ryan. Born on Jan 3, 1926 in Milwaukee, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1943. He served in the 1ST Division L-3-5 at Peleliu, Okinawa and Guadalcanal. He received 3 Purple Hearts before being honorably discharged in Nov. 1945. The following year he met Betty while roller skating. They were married 2 years later and raised their 2 children in Brown Deer. Lou worked as a salesman for a hobby & craft distributer, eventually opening his own retail store. He was a volunteer member of the Brown Deer Auxiliary Police Dept. for many years. Lou treasured being part of his great-grandson's lives. He was very active in his church and volunteered often. He was a history buff, amateur magician and enjoyed painting. He organized reunions for his L-3-5 comrades and in recent years was able to talk with recruits at MEPS (military entrance processing station).
