Linda Helminski (nee Bereiter), 70, of West Allis, WI, passed away on September 12, 2024.
Born on July 27, 1954, to Lawrence R. and Jane L. Bereiter (nee Berg), she was one of four children and she proceeds her brother and sisters: Steven (husband to Melissa), Sandra Wright (nee Bereiter), and Lori Putchel (nee Bereiter).
She met and was married to Gregory Helminski and they built and shared a life together for 34 years before his passing on August 18, 2012.
A wonderful and caring mother to Andrew (Gina) Helminski and Jessica (Robert) Durski and loving stepmother to Pamela (Michael) Devitt, Taylor McWilliams and Leslie Owens.
She was a very proud and beloved grandmother to Hank, Bailey, Kassidy, Kennedy, Joshua, Kaitlin, Wyatt, Adele, Grady, Scout, Nora and Sammy. An active and adoring great-grandmother to Levi and Georgia.
Linda accepted everyone with an open heart, open arms, a lending ear and a perpetual smile. She dedicated countless hours every week to supporting those in need. Her care and concern, along with her amazing friend and co-coordinator, Donna Jonasen, helped to build The Hope Ministries, which serves over 600 displaced and homeless.
An exemplary and giving person, Linda embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, strength of spirit, and an unending generosity that could be seen in her care for her mother, husband, children, grandchildren, her entire family, strong relationships with cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbors, friends, parishioners at Mount Hope Lutheran Church, the community of Hope Ministries.
She loved reading, getting “snuggy” and watching reality TV, crosswords and word puzzles, soup Sundays, trying new recipes, turning money into origami wonders for gifts for her loved ones, preparing for the holidays and spending time with loved ones.
She had immense passion for her family, spiritual work, singing, the natural world around her and finding the joy in each day.
Her departure comes as a great shock and a deep wound, and it is gravely felt by her entire family, friends, and countless others who loved her deeply.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 5:45 PM on Friday, September 20, 2024 at Krause Funeral Home, 12401 West National Avenue, New Berlin, Wisconsin. Funeral Service at 6:00 PM. Private interment at Highland Memorial Park, New Berlin, Wisconsin.
