Katharina Heim

Heim, Katharina (Katie) nee Heppenheimer, 90, went Home to her Lord peacefully in her sleep on Friday March 28, 2025, after battling many years with dementia.

Loving wife of Walter for almost 71 years, beloved Mother of the late Hans (Karen) Heim, Ingrid (the late Dale Myers) Heim, Christine Heim and Andrea (Greg) Bach. Proud Oma of three grandchildren Brigitte Bach, Christian and Gracie Heim, and loved by many nephews, nieces and cousins and friends.

Katie was born in 1934, in Klein Bastei Yugoslavia (Croatia). After WWII she met and married her husband Walter in 1954, had 2 children and immigrated to the United States in 1961, where together they had 2 more children and built a beautiful home for their family,

During the earlier years Katie worked odd jobs but mostly sewed clothing, volunteering at schools, was Brownie/Girl Scout leader and was an active member of her church. She took her sewing skills and was hired to alter uniforms for the military during the Vietnam war. Katie loved arts and crafts and painted 2 large portraits for the church. She also loved to garden and over the years with her husband worked endlessly keeping up their yard and gardens, from which she would can tomatoes, pickles, beets and jellies. She baked thousands of cookies and hundreds of tortes and wedding cakes. She crocheted hundreds of baby blankets, outfits with booties, dirndls and lederhosen. Katie was an active member of the Milwaukee Donauschwaben, a volunteer for German Fest and Folk Fair for 50+ years. She was also the President for the Donauschwaben Senior Citizens for 25 years. Even though her schedule was full, she always made time to love and support her family.

Visitation to be held on Friday, April 25, 2025 from 3:00 PM – 4:45 PM, with service at 5:00 PM at Krause Funeral Home, 12401 West National Avenue, New Berlin, Wisconsin.
