Josephine “Jo” Ellen Tiegs entered into eternal life on June 30, 2025. She left this world peacefully at home, surrounded by her beloved family.
She was born in Madison, Wisconsin on October 15th, 1944 to Ira and Ann Miller. Her younger childhood was spent in Madison, Wisconsin and later her family moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As a teenager, her destiny was forever changed when she met Dennis Tiegs, the love of her life. Dennis and Jo dated while she attended Riverside High School and married one another on October 24th, 1964.
Following their blessed union, they made their home in Pewaukee, Wisconsin where they have lived happily together for almost 61 years. The Lord blessed them with three children, Jacqueline Marie, Jeffrey Allen, and Jonathan Robert. Jo devoted her life to her husband and children. She was later blessed with three grandchildren, Nicholas Elvis, Aaron Colter and Jonah Kenton. Nothing was more important to her than her family.
Besides being a devoted wife and mother, she held various administrative positions for work over the years. She loved animals, especially Dudley, the family dog and later Kallie, a special kitty that won her heart.
Jo was a founding member of the Blue Star Mothers of Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter 2, a non-profit organization very close to her heart. She dedicated her time and talent to other local mothers with sons and daughters active in the military. She was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, good food, music and spending time with family and friends. She spent a lot of time in Townsend, Wisconsin “up north” at the family cottage, which she referred to as her “happy place.”
She loved the Lord keeping her faith active until her last breath. She found peace listening to gospel music recorded by Elvis Presley, especially during her final days in hospice.
Jo will be remembered for her strength to overcome the obstacles she faced in life. You rarely found her without a smile on her face. She laughed often, loved hard and made you feel happy in her presence. She was loyal and loved nothing more than to be surrounded by the people she loved.
She is survived by Dennis Tiegs, her devoted and faithful husband, her three children and their spouses, Jacqueline (Tiegs) Maechtle and Shawn Maechtle, Jeffrey and Julianne Tiegs, and Jonathan Tiegs, her three grandchildren, Nicholas Tiegs, Aaron Tiegs (Heidi Hazen), Jonah Tiegs (Virginia Felder) her two brothers and their spouses, Thomas Miller and Sandy Miller, David Michalek and Connie Michalek, as well as beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the wonderful staff at Horizon Hospice. They provided loving care and made a difficult situation go smoothly.
Heartfelt thank you’s are extended also to Karri Topp of Karring Partners, LLC, who provided extra care with tenderness and grace.
Visitation to be held on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 20851 West Main Street, Lannon, Wisconsin, from 2:00 PM to 3:45 PM. Funeral Service to begin at 4:00 PM. Interment at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield, Wisconsin.
