Johnny W. Jackson was born on December 9, 1943, to Mack Jackson and Ethel Lee Jackson in Greenville, Mississippi. Johnny was the third child. He accepted Christ in early life, and united with Grace Presbyterian Church in Chicago, Illinois.
Johnny received his education from James R. Doolittle Grammer School and graduated from Hude Park High School. He later earned his associate degree in theology from City College.
Johnny Jackson united in holy matrimony with Paula Jordan on November 17, 1963. This union was blessed with a son, Johnny Jackson (John-John).
Johnny was a happy person who gave unconditional love to his family. He enjoyed cooking, especially on the grill.
Johnny was employed by Superior Match Co. One year later, he became employed with the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), which he enjoyed. On Sundays, he was in a pulpit preaching the gospel. After about 20 years, he retired from the CTA, and being divorced, he was off to Washington D.C. In Washington D.C. he became a chauffeur for a prominent senator. He drove the senator for several years before leaving Washington in the 90s.
Johnny returned home to be with family due to medical problems. He continued to freelance preach through invitations from several preachers in various cities. After about a year, he was saddened by his cancer diagnosis. In late 2004, after the passing of our mother, Johnny had to have his left leg amputated. Several years later, a stroke changed him. His health declined and the cancer returned. Johnny fought as hard as he could, but on July 31, 2024, cancer proved to be stronger.
He is survived by his: son, Johnny Jackson; former wife Paula Jackson; sister, Emma (Jerome) McKnight; brother, Jeffery Jackson; nieces, Tamara Lowe, Courtney Johnson, Sequoia Davis, Stephanie Kimble, and Brandy Jackson; great-niece, Brooklyn Davis; nephews, Leslie (Dolores) Lowe Sr., Stephen Kimble, Leslie Lowe Jr., Leslie Lowe I, Mario Lowe, Robert Lowe, and Michael Lowe; great-nephews, Zayden Jackson, Zyler Cloyd, and Zeckaris Cloyd; and a host of cousins and friends.
