My deepest condolences to John’s family. I loved talking to John. He was witty and had a great sense of humor. He was always interested in what I had to say and loved to discuss history. He was a very nice man.

Paul J. Westcott left a message on September 14, 2025:
I hired John in the 1970s for a position in the Electronic Warfare Division in the Air Force Research Lab at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton Ohio. This was supervisors were permitted to review applicants resumes prior to offering a position. Regardless of his University of Michigan lineage and the preponderance of Ohio State University people at Wright-Patterson, John appeared to have what it took to work in our environment. John said he knew nothing about EW, but I told him he would learn what he needed to know. He came to flourish in his job and earned the respect of his co-workers. John was an avid bridge player and would host bridge games for eight people at his home with the help of Tallye. Among his “nicknames” was “Mudball” McCall for propensity to search for lost golf balls in rained-drained ponds on the golf course. Most of his finds were shag balls at best. John will be honored at the Kittyhawk Association of Old Crows (AOC) on September 24th in Dayton Ohio where ANY family or friends are welcome to attend. Contact Paul Westcott at 937-475-1574 for additional details. Rest in Peace, John, and may you finally get that Hole in One that you sought on the links.
