John Lawrence Spongberg

John Lawrence Spongberg, age 75, passed away on December 17, 2022.

John was born in Minneapolis, MN to John and Emily (nee Webster) Spongberg on November 26, 1947. John is survived by Mary, his loving wife of 47 years, as well as by his daughters Caroline, Margaret (Alex) and Ashley; and grandchildren Kylie, Annika, Dominic, Desmond, Rowan, Henrik and Delilah. John is preceded in death by his parents.

John moved to Milwaukee with his parents as a child and graduated from Custer High School and Milwaukee County Technical College. John worked for many years as a Journeyman Auto Mechanic at the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewage District. After John and Mary married in 1975, they moved to Wauwatosa where they raised their daughters. John had a quiet but strong faith and relied on the Lord. “Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.” Proverb 3:3

John will be remembered by his kind and generous spirit; always happy to give aid to others with no expectation of anything in return. His grandchildren will remember the many adventures he and Mary took them on, sleepovers, decorating their Christmas tree, and endless ice cream and popcorn. John had a love of cars with a special love of auto racing. John will be deeply missed by all.

A visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from 3:00 pm to 4:45 pm with Service at 5:00 PM at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, Wisconsin. John will be laid to rest at Wisconsin Memorial Park at a private, family burial.
