John L. Wright

(December 17, 1946 – June 15, 2025 )

Mr. Wright, aged 78, worked for Milwaukee County for 20 years as a Sanitation Engineer. After retiring and moving to Laurel, MS, he owned and operated a car detailing business. He loved to ride motorcycles, take care of his yard and cut grass. He was the life of the party and always lit up a room. He enjoyed spending time with his family and playing pool.

He was preceded in death by his son, John L. Wright, Jr.; parents, J.C. Wright and Bertha Lee Yancey and siblings, Erma Luckett, Edward Jackson and Cecil Jackson.

He is survived by his wife, Sallie Wright of Laurel; children, Lovely Monroe of Laurel, Samuel Monroe of Milwaukee, WI and Danielle Pugh (Tommy) of Milwaukee, WI; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild and sisters, Beverly Jones and Francine Rice (Alonzo).

A visitation was held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Jones and Son Funeral Home of Moselle, MS.

A second visitation for Mr. Wright will be at Krause Funeral Home, 9000 West Capitol Drive, Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Saturday, July 5, 2025 from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Funeral Service at 12:00 PM. Procession to Glen Oaks Cemetery to follow.
