Janis French, age 80, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away following a long and courageous battle with illness.
Janis shared 61 years of marriage with her devoted husband, Roscoe “Ron” French, a retired West Allis Police Captain. Together, they built a life centered on family, love, and the many memories gathered over six decades together.
She was a loving mother to her daughter, Kelly Zaffle, and her husband, Christopher. Janis was preceded in death by her son, Michael French, whose memory remained forever a part of her heart and family.
She was a proud grandmother to Samantha (Zaffle) Henderson and her husband, Anthony, and Jacob Zaffle and his wife, Hannah. Her family was an important part of her life, and she treasured the time and memories they shared.
Music brought Janis great joy throughout her life. She sang for many years in the Senior Choir at Mount Hope Lutheran Church and also played the organ and accordion. Her love of music extended well beyond church—she especially enjoyed musical theatre and had a particular fondness for attending Elvis impersonator performances and competitions.
Janis also took great pride in her career as an orthodontic assistant, a profession she enjoyed for many years.
Those who knew Janis will remember the things that made her uniquely herself: her love of music, the joy she found in a good performance, the pride she took in her work, and, most importantly, the love she had for her family.
Janis leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will continue to be shared by those who loved her.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM – 4:45 PM. Funeral Service at 5:00 PM on Friday, October 2, 2026 at Krause Funeral Home, 12401 West National Avenue, New Berlin, Wisconsin.
