James Herrold Charlton II was born on July 29, 1959, and passed away on December 19, 2025, at the age of 66, leaving behind a lasting legacy of love, laughter, and connection.
Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Diane Charlton; daughters Briana Johnson (Andrew Johnson) and Kailey Charlton (Ryan Leedle); sisters Adriane Leigh Charlton and Lesley Charlton (Scott Halweg); and his beloved grandson, Noah Johnson. He was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his granddaughter in April. Jim was also surrounded by many friends and extended family members who meant the world to him.
Jim had an extraordinary ability to connect with people. He could strike up a conversation with any stranger and instantly make them feel like an old friend. His energy was infectious, his spirit uplifting, and his presence brightened every room he entered. He loved deeply and without reservation.
After navigating considerable hardships, Jim approached life with renewed purpose, an intentional desire to live fully, and a deep gratitude for the moments, big and small, that brought people together. This outlook shaped the way he lived and the joy he shared with others.
A gifted photographer and videographer, Jim shared his talent for capturing beauty and moments that mattered. His creativity extended into many areas of his life. He was an excellent cook who loved preparing memorable meals for family and friends, and a talented guitar player who found joy in making and listening to music. An avid golfer, Jim also treasured time spent on the course, enjoying both the game and the camaraderie.
Above all, Jim was a devoted family man who lived with heart, humor, and an unwavering commitment to making people smile and bringing laughter into their lives. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by those who were lucky enough to love him.
A Funeral Service to honor and celebrate Jim’s life will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2026 with Visitation from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM and Service at 5:00 PM at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive, Wisconsin.
