Helen (nee Slinger) Burkard

Age 96, died May 17, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 17, 1919 in Woodstock, MN. She is survived by her four children: Merlyn (Linda) Burkard, Audrey (Hamid) Alwan, Barbara Burkard and Roger (Karen) Burkard. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Gretchen (Jayson) Vitamvas, Eric (Michelle) Plantenberg, Aaron (Laura) Plantenberg and Zosia Burkard and her great grandchildren Mae, Anna and Edj Plantenberg and 2 brothers and 3 sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Edwin Burkard and 7 brothers and sisters.

The Burkard family wishes to thank Dr. William Sala, Fr. Chuck Keefe and the staff of the Milwaukee Catholic Home for the loving care provided to Helen. They enriched her final nine years with joy and dignity.

A special thank you to Theresa Owens and her staff at Assisted Living, Chris Cotter and her staff at Rehab / Transitions and Vitas Hospice. The tender care provided to Helen will never be forgotten.

Memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, May 28, 2016 at the Milwaukee Catholic Home, St. Anne's Chapel, 2462 North Prospect Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53211.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been created for the Milwaukee Catholic Home.
