Called to Jesus April 28, 2024 – Born October 8, 1945 in Neenah, Wisconsin, son of Melvin and Alice (Repenn) Porath.
Gary resided (Milw) ** East Side, Woodlawn Ct.(too many dear friends to name ??)Cole° Gary’s residence would span Sheboygan to Milwaukee. Attending college here, (Cherie & Gary alumnus Bryant & Stratton) Gary met the love of his life Cherie at a school party. She blew a kiss on his cards, and he won that hand at Poker. Gary, tough to surmise in few words, lived a charmed life where he chartered with grace all things nautical traveling wide, esp our Great Lake Michigan, excelled chef whether waffle or filet. Double Doors sought and saw dad often were: The doors of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church & School, whether as parent or church elder, Trinity Lutheran Church, downtown, whether parishioner or board member, (10th & Highland) *Rev Em. Following his brother Bruce, having ascended heaven (4/08/2024) *Caroline & proceeded in death by his remarkable parents Melvin Porath (96′) Alice Porath (01′) hearts of gold Gary is Survived by those he held esp dear and celebrated life with and among: wife, Cherie D Porath, circa 1967, twins Amy & Jill, Thankfully; Jennifer (Todd) Willman humbly boast: children and grandchildren: Reg (Meghan)**Nolan, Josie, Jacob +Joey “Gary” Willman, Sister Jane (Perry) Clough (Jordin, Riggs), Sister Faye (Rick) Freese (Candace *Hunter) humbly boast: Natalie, Easton– & dear Brad ++ so many cousins Dad kept up with in WI. Blodgetts & Victory on Cherie’s side,** Harbor Master’s buddies **Big Jim(Peggy) & Bear (with gary now) Mike, Larry, Eddie, Bill, Hans W lll & on,..and on,..”Yo Baby, talk to me.”
Dad was effortless at making & keeping friends. As quick to emanate a tear as a laugh for ya.
Dad said, from his deathbed, “My boat is up river, I’m ready to go. Please shake hands & have a drink on me.” and we shall. May our Rivers lead to the same Heaven.
