Emmett Leroy Mallory Jr., affectionately known as “Hammie,” was born on October 21, 1968, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Emmett Sr. and Juanita Mallory. As the eldest of two sisters and two brothers, Emmett took on the role of protector and guide.
From a young age, Emmett accepted Christ as his Savior at Greater Resurrection Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles, CA. He attended Lynwood High School in Lynwood, CA, where he graduated in 1986. A natural athlete, Emmett shined as a star baseball player. His journey continued at Southwest College in Los Angeles, CA, where he pursued further education. In 1992, Emmett made the decision to return to Milwaukee, the city of his birth, where he earned his credentials and embarked on a lifelong career as a semi-truck driver.
In 1993, Emmett welcomed his greatest joy, his daughter Nyah. Her arrival transformed his life, bringing a new depth to his heart. Their bond grew into a strong and loving father-daughter friendship that brought Emmett immense pride. In 2018, Emmett became a grandfather with the birth of his grandson, Boston. Embracing his role as “Paw-Paw,” Emmett cherished their biweekly trips to the barbershop and shared their love for going to the movies.
A lover of the open road, Emmett found freedom and peace riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle with his music playing. As a proud member of the Klutch and Khrome motorcycle club, he was known as “Big Snacks.” The brotherhood and unwavering support he found within the club became a vital part of his life, providing him with a second family.
Emmett was passionate about sports and played semi-pro football. While he was often mistaken for a professional Packers player, his loyalty remained with the Los Angeles Rams. His love for music, particularly the blues, was another defining aspect of his life. He could effortlessly identify the name of any song.
Above all, Emmett was passionate about family. His happiest moments were those spent bringing together his Wisconsin family with his loved ones in California. Emmett lived each day to the fullest, finding joy in both the big and small moments, and he inspired those around him to do the same.
Emmett fought a courageous fight and was called home on July 31, 2024, with family by his side. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Nyah Mallory and grandson Boston Reed of Milwaukee; two sisters Nickey (Joseph) Mallory-Dennis of Lynwood, CA and Tracy Mallory of Mesa, AZ; two brothers Herbert Flournoy of Castro Valley, CA and David Flournoy of Long Beach, CA; his stepmother Gwendolyn Mallory of Milwaukee; two nieces Diamon Dennis and Tegan Flournoy; three nephews Demitrik and Domonique Dennis and Nakia Williams; great nephew King Dennis and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Emmett was preceded in death by his parents Emmett Sr and Juanita, stepfather Herbert Flournoy Sr., grandfather William Epps and Dave Linton, grandmothers, Estella Broadnax and Daisy Hunter, and aunts Carla, Mary, Cheryl and Daretta Broadnax.
