On January 17, 2015, at 84 years of age, Ed slipped peacefully into eternal life to be reunited with his beloved wife of 54 years, Dolores.
Ed patiently suffered from Parkinson's Disease for the past nine years. He has been lovingly cared for by his daughter, Julie, her husband Dr. Jonathan Teichert and their family; and by Ed's son John Mills. They in turn received joy and many blessings from providing for Ed's care in their home.
In high school, Ed met the love of his life, Dolores. Ed was impressed by the deep faith of Dolores and her family. During his freshman year of college, he converted to the Roman Catholic Church, which he embraced with great devotion for the rest of his life. With generous love and trust in God's providence, Ed and Dolores welcomed ten children.
After graduating from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, with a degree in chemistry, Ed worked for Shell Oil Company in the petrochemicals division.
In 1959, Ed and Dolores co-founded Milwaukee Solvents and Chemicals Inc. which later became the MilSolv Corporation with branches in Minneapolis, MN, and Des Moines, IA.
In 1998, Ed and Dolores sold MilSolv and entered an active retirement, moving in 2002 to Oak View, CA., where they enjoyed living near Julie and her family.
Ed was a long-serving member of the Board of Governors of Thomas Aquinas College in Santa Paula, California, and was active on numerous other boards and committees. He was a Grand Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, a Knight of Columbus, an active member of St. Peter's Church in Slinger, WI; and later, of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Ojai, CA.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife Dolores, and an infant grandson, Teddy Mills. He is survived by his ten children; Edward (Mary Beth), Michael, Julie (Jonathan) Teichert, Joseph, James (Gretchen), Anne (John) Miller, Thomas (Jan), Mary (Al) Rohde, Kathleen (Peter) Pape, and John. Ed is further survived by 40 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, January 30, from 5:00-8:00 PM at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, WI 53072. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 31, at 11:00 AM, at St. Peter Catholic Church, Slinger, WI, with viewing in the church beginning at 10:00 AM.
Memorials appreciated to Pro-Life Wisconsin, 19270 North Hills Drive, Brookfield, WI 54045, or The Women's Support Center of Milwaukee, Inc. 2051
