I’ll never forget the first time I met Doug. It was 1995 so I would have been about 9 years old and he and my cousin Lisa had been dating for a while. He made the trip with Lisa, Kathy and Roy to meet family in MN. I was very shy meeting him, like I was with most adults, but that changed almost instantly because he was such a funny, nice and pleasant guy. We all loved him immediately. He and Lisa came to MN for a few holidays and I remember one holiday, he joined my sister Jen and I at the table, drawing on people’s faces in old magazines and he seemed to be having as much fun with it as we were. It was always just such a blast being around him. We were all so happy when he and Lisa got married, and then when they had their boys. Such a loving family and he was so proud. Both Nic and Nathan have the unmistakable Doug grin, and he will live on through them. I’ll miss you Doug. Rest in Peace. Julie Gonzalez

Doug and I met and were friends back in the Tess Corners Elementary days. He was my partner in crime in Ms . Guill’s Music class, my lab partner and partner in hijinks in Ms. Dissen’s Chemistry class, and stood next to Marlene and me alphabeticallly (as always, right?) at our graduation from MHS. We reconnected just a few years ago, and he was still as funny and friendly as he’s ever been. I’ll miss him spontaneously singing the guitar opening to Stevie Ray Vaughn’s “Couldn’t Stand the Weather” (I was just doing this in Doug’s timeless style, coincidentally, last Friday) and just laughing at all the things that cracked us up. Cheers, Doug—you are one of a kind.

Anyone who knew Doug, knows what a great guy he was. He had such a good sense of humor and such a positive disposition and that very pleasant smile His kids were his joy and delight.. When he would listen to them speak, you could just see the pride and love glowing in his face. He was Mr. Mom. Doug packed more parenting, love, pride and wonderful memories into the 20 years that he was a Dad than some do in 60 years. All of these memories will, hopefully, be a comfort to all who knew and loved him. Jesus promised us in the Bible. Second Corinthians verse 5. “For we know that when we leave this earthly body, we will have a home in Heaven, an eternal body made for us by God Himself”. We need to hold tight the beautiful memories that we have all made with Doug. We all thank God for the privilege of having had Doug in our lives.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Doug was Jeff’s best friend. I feel like we both lost a best friend. Jeff and Doug worked together for many years at Senrty Foods. Doug and I had a favorite song Crocodile Rock and when it would come on the Jukeboxwould pretend we had pianos. At our wedding I had disposable cameras on the table, Doug being Doug took his camera into the bathroom and took some interesting photos for me to look at later. My condolences go to Lisa and the boys who DougD loved with all his heart. We too are heartbroken rest in peace our dear dear friend

My heart hurts too for this loss of a dear high school friend. I fondly remember Doug, Dave Stevens, and myself driving to school rocking out to the band Ratt. Many laughs were had and could always count on him for a listening ear. Gonna miss you my friend.
