Our beloved Dorothy Marie Dernehl (nee Moha) passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at the age of 103. She was the oldest child of John and Eugenia (Lizotte) Moha, and was born in Washburn, WI on October 7, 1918.
She was the Class of 1935 Valedictorian at JR Murphy High School in Hurley, WI . She graduated from Milwaukee County General Hospital School of Nursing in 1941, and was employed as an industrial RN at American Motors Corp in Milwaukee. Dorothy was involved in many volunteer activities including PTA, Junior Achievement leader, Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader, Red Cross first aid instructor, etc. She loved to travel, and she enjoyed sewing, gardening, art projects, and baking. She was the best cook on the planet, and her breads and rolls were legendary at the bake sales.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Paul H.Dernehl, and her siblings, John Moha, James Moha and Mary K. Pretti. She is survived by her children, Nancy Dernehl, Paul (Maxine) Dernehl, Louise (Tim Dunar) Dernehl, and Jeanne Dernehl; her foster daughter Michelle Lukacs; her grandchildren, Maggie Dernehl, Emily(Shawn) Walker, Katharine Dunar, Edward (Kate) Dunar, Daniel Dunar, and Gloria Dernehl; her great grandchildren, Maxwell and Alice Walker, and Paul Dunar; and her sister, Jeanette Fairchild.
Private services will be held.
