In Loving Memory Diane S. Iverson (née Shilvock)

Diane S. Iverson (née Shilvock) beloved mother, grandmother and friend passed away on August 3, 2026, at the age of 85, after courageously battling breast cancer. She is survived by her daughters, Susan Iverson and Karen (Brett) Richter; and grandchildren Olivia, Benjamin, and Matthew. Preceded in death by her daughter Ellen, parents, Raymond and Ruth Shilvock and sister, Dale.

Born in Edgebrook, Illinois, Diane graduated from St. Scholastica High School (1958) and went on to earn a degree in Social Work from the University of Colorado Boulder (1962).
After college, Diane returned to the city she loved, moving to Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood with her beloved sister, Dale. She began her career at Marshall Field’s department store, and then as a social worker in Cook County.

In 1968, Diane married John Iverson, whom she first met singing in the Edgebrook Church Choir. Soon after getting married, John and Diane moved to Brookfield, Wisconsin where daughters Susan and Karen were raised. For many years, their house on Jean Marie Court became a second home to her daughters’ many friends, who knew they could always count on her warm hospitality and well-stocked refrigerator. It was there that Diane also forged many lifelong friendships.

An avid reader, passionate sports fan, and talented calligrapher, Diane pursued her interests with enthusiasm throughout her life. She later enjoyed working at Paperwork on Downer Avenue and treasured the friendships she built there. Diane was a longtime Milwaukee Symphony subscriber and a dedicated member of Calvary Lutheran Church, where she served as a Stephen Minister.

Diane especially valued her Book Club companions and the many memorable girls’ trips to Door County. Her curiosity about others and genuine interest in their stories made her a thoughtful listener and a trusted friend to many.

She will be remembered for her grace, intelligence, kindness, and quick wit. Her warmth, generosity, and genuine care for others touched countless lives and leaves a legacy for all who knew her.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the team at ProHealth Care Cancer Center, especially Dr. Laura Raftery, as well as the compassionate caregivers of Dickson Hollow and Brighton Hospice for their exceptional care and support.

Gathering will be held at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive Brookfield, Wisconsin 53072. on Saturday, September 12, 2026. Visitation from 10:30 AM – 11:45 AM. Funeral Service at 12:00 PM.
