Despina “Noula” Papapetru, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend to many, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2024, in Germantown, Wisconsin, at the age of 97. Born on August 23, 1927, in Hibbing, Minnesota, Noula was a beacon of love and strength to all who knew her.
Noula spent her formative years in Hibbing before moving to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she and her late husband, Bill, raised their family. Her life was marked by devotion to her family and faith. She was a longstanding and active member of the Greek Orthodox Church and community.
She was predeceased by her husband Bill, her sons Gregory and Dean, and her daughter Christine. Despite these profound losses, Noula’s spirit remained strong, and she continued to be a source of inspiration and love for her family.
Noula is survived by her grandchildren, Nicole (Andy), Wil, Matthew (Brittney), and Roxann (Harrison), who remember her fondly for her wit and wisdom. Her legacy extends to her great-grandchildren, Mya and Jay, children of Matt, and Loukas, child of Nicole, who admired their Yia-Yia deeply and shared in many smiles and laughs.
Noula enjoyed traveling throughout her lifetime and loved to share stories on her experiences. She called Palm Springs, California, home for many years where she created lasting memories before returning to Wisconsin.
Noula’s life was a testament to resilience and love. She leaves behind a legacy that will be treasured by her family and friends. Her memory will forever be a blessing to those who had the privilege of knowing her.
