Sorry to hear of Dan's passing. I have fond memories of his visiting from Milwaukee at my Grandma and Grandpa's farm near Dorchester. I am sorry he was no able to make one more visit to see the "farm" Lil was my grandmother Ellener's sister. Lil and Charlie were wonderful people and raised two very fine sons. My family and I are deeply sorry about Dan's passing. Dan is my brother-in-law. My husband Chuck as Dan's older Brother and passed about 8 months prior to Dan. Dan was his only sibling and Chuck loved Dan. Dan is a very caring person and loved being with family. We are bless to have many visits and Chuck also enjoyed our phone conversations. We played sheep's head as a family and Dan was an expert. He was a hard worker and loved his garden and yard and loved swimming. He was a lifeguard as a teenager. He was passionate about his career and work and was recognized by the Supply Chain Procurement Association. He was selected as President. He had a thriving career and traveled the world to meet vendors. Dan had integrity and cared deeply about others. When Charlie, his Dad, passed away, Dan watched over his Mother, Lil, and made sure she got to her hair appointments every Saturday. When Lil had health issues, Dan found a nursing home for her where she lived for the last 3 months of her life. As a family we visited Lil frequently and we celebrated many many Thanksgivings together in Chicago.. He has brought Usingers sausage and cheese which we served during watching football games. Chuck made sure that we made bloody Marys that Dan enjoyed during the game. Chuck and Dan talked about the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers every season. Hard work is in Dan's blood and part of the Smead DNA. Dan worried about me after Chuck's passing and encouraged me to have strength and asked if I had search work which he knew I wanted. He was an excellent listener and followed up with me and people he wanted to help. Dan was a dedicated family man. He deeply loved Linda and his family. He cared about all of us. Dan be in peace. We will miss you deeply. Be with God and you did your best in everything. Love, Michelle Smead
