It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Christine Ellen Alberti (nee Smith), born August 19, 1958, in Rockford, Illinois. Christine most recently resided in West Allis, Wisconsin. Very strong in her faith to our Lord, she was peacefully called home to enter eternal rest on May 12, 2025, age 66.

Beloved mother of Angela Niemi and Ryan Niemi. Adored by her grandchildren Alyssa Niemi, Abigail Krueger, Gunner Niemi, and Annabelle Jenrich. Devoted sister to Deborah (Tom) Minger and Darcel (Rick) Ehley. Godmother to Jason Smith. Honorary second Mom and Grandma to Jennifer Penoske, Brooke and Brittany Penoske. Dear Aunt, Cousin, and friend to many.

Reunited in death with her parents Donald Smith and Marcia Kazmierski, her husband Steven Alberti, her son David (DJ) Niemi, her sister Lisa Phillips, and her brother Scott Smith.

Chris was the lifeline of her family. She was everyone’s “go to” person, everyone’s rock, the very core being that held the many facets of her family together. She was deeply loved by her family, with her kind, empathetic, selfless nature evident in everything she said to and did for them, especially her grandchildren.

She had a charming, witty, positive demeanor and always made everyone smile and laugh.

Chris loved nature and spent many joyful hours watching and listening to “da birds.” She enjoyed spending summers up at the cottage with her family. Chris equally enjoyed her quiet time at home, snuggling her dog, Ollie, while watching Survivor and crime shows she playfully referred to as “her kilt ‘em shows.”

Chris worked at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center for 24 years before retiring in May of 2022. She held numerous positions during her career, the most recent being the My HealtheVet Coordinator. She greatly enjoyed helping Veterans. She was very well-known, respected, loved, and considered a friend by her many colleagues.

The love and light Chris brought to our lives will be forever cherished and missed by everyone she knew.

Visitation to be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Krause Funeral Home, 12401 West National Avenue, New Berlin, WI 53151, from 4:00 PM to 6:45 PM. Funeral Service to begin at 7:00 PM.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Chris Alberti. She was someone I truly enjoyed working with and I saw first hand the difference that she made serving our Veterans. She took great pride in mastering the My Healthy Vet Program and partnering with mew employees to train them how to use it. Her smile was enduring and so sincere. She spoke of the love of her family both her siblings, children and grandchildren and her enjoyment going to the cottage. She will be dearly missed. I will keep Christine's family in my thoughts and prayers
