(Nee Anderson) September 25, 1928 – November 22, 2022. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Blanche Anderson, sister Marilyn, and beloved husband, Clarence A. Hense, Jr. She was the loving mother of Sharon (David), Mark (Valerie), and Brian (Dawn); devoted grandma to Caroline (Jason), Nicholas (Natalie), Nathan, Aaron, and Allison (Jeremy); and proud great-grandma to Jeremy Jr., Nathan, Owen, Caden, and Juliette. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Margie (the late John), niece Susan (Corey), and nephew Steven (Kari), as well as many dear friends.
Carol Spent 93 of her 94 years living in her beloved West Allis, and graduated from WA Central High in 1946. After completing the secretarial program at Spencerian School of Business, she worked in the tractor division at Allis-Chalmers.
She met the love of her life, Clarence, on a blind date; they married at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Milwaukee on January 6, 1951. They had three children, and Carol’s life as a wife, mother, and homemaker gave her great joy.
A woman of deep faith, Carol was a lifelong member of Immanuel, and the entire family was greatly involved. Her 100% Norwegian heritage was something of which she was very proud, and the church’s annual Norwegian Lutefisk dinner, bake sale, and bazaar was an opportunity to create craft items throughout the year — her Scandinavian themed items were popular. She was also a member of Sons of Norway.
Carol enjoyed doing Norwegian rosemaling painting, making greeting cards, Christmas ornaments, and quilts for the homeless in Milwaukee or for Lutheran World Relief. And with her passion for family, she created numerous scrapbooks and albums of family events and history for her children and grandchildren.
Carol and Clarence took their children on annual road trips, and visited all 48 lower states and several Canadian provinces. In 1984, they purchased a mobile home in Door County, and the family enjoyed many great times there for over 25 years.
Not only was she a great mother, but also a loving grandma to her five precious grandchildren. Creating art projects, playing in the yard, trips to the doughnut shop, and just having special time together was such a gift. And how she adored her five great-grandchildren, too!
Family events, traveling, dining out, Sons of Norway, socializing with friends, church and Scouting activities, Model A Club, doing crafts, and loving her Lord and family made Carol the wonderful woman she was. We’ll love you forever!
The family wishes to thank the Congregational Home staff and Legacy Hospice for their compassionate care.
