Passed away peacefully on February 11, 2021 at 61 years young. Cherished mother of Jessica (Ryan) Hummer. Proud Grandma of Lily, Alexis and Levi. Loving daughter of Ruth and the late Norval Aspenson. Dear sister of Rachel (Randy) Glenn, Karin Ludwig, Roger Aspenson and Kristine (Dennis) Golz. Adored by nieces and nephews Rick, Jason, Brian, Jacob, Becky, Steven, Tiffany and Tyler. Also loved by many other family members and friends.
Carla earned her associate degree from WCTC and worked in her chosen profession of Hospitality Management, and worked in retail management at the Warner Brothers Studio Store. She used her artistic ability to bless others by painting murals on walls, canvases and furniture, drawing and coloring, making custom jewelry and one-of-a-kind cigar box purses, sewing aprons, mittens and cloth masks for every tenant in her apartment building during the pandemic.
She loved being around people and was always the life of the party. Dancing and singing, laughing and telling stories. Her smile could light up a room. She loved traveling to new places and spending time with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed being outdoors. Some of her favorite ways to spend summer days were BBQ’s, festivals, walking around at the zoo, camping, sitting poolside or around a campfire and being out on a boat in the middle of the lake.
We can look at Carla’s life like her favorite movie, “The Wizard of Oz”. She, like Dorothy, had a loving family who cared deeply for her. Like the tornado that swept up that farmhouse, her life was a whirlwind. A great adventure full of color, like the Land of Oz. She followed the yellow brick road, and made some incredible friends along the way. She created some amazing memories on her grand journey as well. NMO represents that Wicked Old Witch. She was mean and scary, but just like Dorothy, Carla was brave and fought with everything she had. Even though she lost the use of her legs she still had her creative mind, her loving heart and an incredible amount of courage. In the end, she clicked her heals together and went “Home” but instead of heading back to Kansas, she went home, “Over the Rainbow” to the loving arms of Jesus.
Memorial donations to Guthy Jackson Foundation to raise awareness and find a cure for NMO.

but by how much you are loved by others.”
