Bruce Edward Tonkin found peace in God’s loving arms on August 15, 2024, at the age of 68.
Loving husband of 25 years to his wife Nancy. The adoring father of Nic, Ben (Ilmana), Rachel (Steve) Schroeder. Blessed stepfather of Jason Krueger, Kyle (Vicki) Krueger and Katie (James) Vollrath. Doting grandfather of Hailey, Casey, Nathan, Phoenix, Mackenzie, Selah, Ashbea, Alivia, and Clayton. Cherished brother of Bonnie Tonkin. He is also survived by his loving niece Macey (Xavier) Delgado, as well as other friends and family. Preceded in death by parents Eileen and Cecil Tonkin.
Bruce was born in Marquette, Michigan on April 25th, 1956. At a young age he and his family moved to Two Rivers, Wisconsin, where Bruce would spend his adolescence. He attended Washington High School in Two Rivers, and eventually moved to Milwaukee for college. He completed an associate’s degree in welding at Milwaukee Area Technical College. His interest and talents in this industry lead him to a career with various roles such as a welder/fitter, salesman, and eventually a weld inspector for Bucyrus International as well as Caterpillar Inc., from which he retired.
Bruce and Nancy enjoyed traveling and camping, and over the years had many wonderful adventures. Bruce enjoyed spending time in nature. He lived for hunting trips with his sons and fishing with his grandchildren. He spent time outdoors with his German Shorthaired Pointer, Sophie, walking and swimming at the nearby dog park.
A Visitation will be held from 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM on Saturday September 14,2024 at Brookfield Lutheran Church, 18500 West Burleigh Road, Brookfield, Wisconsin with a Memorial Service at 4:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Brookfield Lutheran Church for “Feed My Starving Children” would be appreciated by the family.
