Passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 30, 2024, age 87, surrounded by family. Beloved Wife of the late Joseph. Loving Mother of Josette (Bruce) Spangenberg, James (Cheryl) Marlega, Lisa (Michael) Wolfe, Judi (Craig) Naumann and Paul (Elizabeth Mottet) Marlega. Proud Grandmother of Emily and Molly (Morgan) Spangenberg, James Jr. and Noah Marlega, Kiara (Jesse) Lorenz, Ian (Katherine) Wolfe, Evan and Lilly Naumann. Dear Great-Grandmother of Elsie and Genevieve Lorenz and Russell and Weston Wolfe.

Preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Genevieve Zartler, brother, Lawrence (Clarice) Zartler and sister, Rita (Richard) Machata. Also loved by many relatives and friends.

Barbara was born and raised in West Allis, Wisconsin. She graduated from Juneau High School and went on to receive degrees in nursing and psychology at Alverno College. Barbara spent her career at West Allis Memorial Hospital, where she worked as Nurse Manager of 4 South for many years and later at Visiting Nurse Association. Barbara was an active member in the Greenfield Women’s Club, loved family gatherings, traveling, local theater, and spending time with friends.

Gathering will be held at Krause Funeral Home, 12401 West National Avenue, New Berlin Wisconsin, on Thursday, June 20, 2024, 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM. There will be no service held.
