Judith R. Ziltz (née Swanson)
My Mom was a caring Mother, Grandmother, Wife, Sister, Godmother, Aunt, Friend, and a loving child of God. She led her life to its fullest. She traveled, volunteered, raised children and grandchildren. She was an amazing Nurse and then a High School Librarian. Although she was a private person, she always opened her heart to those in need. She made people feel accepted and if anyone felt outside of this world, she would show and tell them how important they were to this life. She was an amazing cook. She never measured ingredients. She just knew what was needed and how much. She went through hard times in her life. She didn’t share her pain. Instead, she saw the pain in others and lifted them up to face this world with love, kindness and forgiveness. Her love for her family and friends had no bounds. Even when she needed time for herself, she never stopped praying for and thinking of all of us.
She was preceded in death by her most beloved husband, Ron. When he passed in 2018, she lost a big part of her life. He was her love, confidant, golf and dance partner, cheerleader and devoted prayer partner. Mom and Dad volunteered for the marriage counseling for those wonderful couples who married at St. John’s Cathedral in downtown Milwaukee. They were an inspiration for marriage. Married for 55 years and both from South Chicago. They talk every night after the bed lights went out.
Preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Jack Swanson, a loving stepfather, Bill Strand, and her older brother, Jay Swanson. As Sissy, she leaves behind a beloved younger brother, Gregg Strand. Momma leaves behind a beautifully loving daughter and caregiver, Beth Lueck, and her loving husband, Larry, who was in all ways her son too. With a heavy heart she left behind much loved and specially bonded grandchildren Evan and Kate Lueck. She also leaves behind her daughter, caregiver, protector, friend, advocate and confessor, Carrie Ziltz, who never left her side. All our love and prayers to you, Momma.
